Last week I shot an exciting project for Caldwell Entertainment who are a production company based near Surfers Paradise. Producer / director Steve Caldwell got in touch after seeing some of my work and invited me to the Gold Coast to shoot a TV and cinema commercial for one of his clients who is a local criminal lawyer. The treatment for the 30 second TVC depicted a "bad guy" in a Ford Falcon XR6 being chased by 2 police cars at night around the streets of the Gold Coast.
Steve's producing skills were tested with gaining the permissions to have streets blocked off so we could stage the car chase, the local councils were quite the challenge to deal with but his persistence prevailed. Steve put together a great team and we got the entire project shot overnight with first crew and talent call at 4pm and “thats a wrap" called at about 5am.
Below is a collage of storyboard sketches (some shots changed slightly on the day), stills photos (excuse the quality, they were shot with my iPhone) and video frame grabs from the final shots. I have only included the car rig shots to keep this email brief.
We shot the project with 4 different types of cameras which were a Sony FS7 as the main camera, a Canon 5D MK2 for the car mounted rig shots, a DJI Inspire for the drone shots and a Go Pro hero 4 just as some bonus extra coverage.
